Coverack September 23 Update

Watch this CS2000 Space!

Wow, what a month! Between the weather we have had a busy, busy summer! Two sandcastle competitions were held this month. Both proved to be great fun with some really impressive creations. The judges found it hard to pick winners because of the ever-increasing standard. Listening in on the debates I think everyone had a strong chance of winning.

The tide race was a one-team race thanks to storm Betty! I honestly wasn’t expecting anyone to turn up. Hats off (and umbrellas raised) for turning up.

Pirate and Mermaid crafts was a chance for kids and adults to get creative making parrots, pirates, mermaids, paintings and generally letting imaginations run wild!

The night of Twinkling Lights was a HUGE success. With over 100 tea lights on the beach, we created a beautiful scene. It’s always such a moving and emotional night and becoming more and more popular every year.

We can’t run these events without our volunteers, of which we have many! From judging to serving teas, mopping up paint to taking donations these events would be nothing without them. THANK YOU for everything you do and responding with a smile to even my most bonkers ideas.

We are so lucky to have strong support from local businesses too. The Bay Hotel has come to my rescue with printing of posters, it has allowed us to use the lawn to make our sandcastle competition accessible and helped us out with change when I ran low at the recent Twinkling Lights event. The Old Mill Shop donated prizes at the beginning of the year which I’ve been able to hand out over the year. I used frisbees donated by them as certificates for most of the beach events this year! They also kept their lights on for us for the twinkling lights which helped us to keep trading after dark. Coverack Village Stores has always been a huge supporter. They’ve given up window space for advertising and sold leftover ‘What’s on’ guides over the summer. All of the village businesses have supported us with decorating for events, selling items and/or donating prizes over the last year. How lucky are we to have such huge support!

Our Facebook page, Coverack Village, is full of photos of the summer’s activities!

Thank you all round after a busy and productive summer!
