Watch this CS2000 Space!
July looked like a quiet month for CS2000 but that’s often not the case. We took on Coverack School Play as an after school club for the year 5/6 children. It was great fun; the children did a brilliant job taking on an adapted version of ‘Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations’ called ‘Lucy’s Incredible Illucinations’. If you’ve not heard of it, it’s a story about a young child whose daydreams come true. We went from an army raiding her home to find the hidden radio transmitter, Lucy’s elderly aunt winning a boxing competition to a librarian climbing a mountain whilst changing a lightbulb! Certainly, a diverse script with many challenging roles. As normal our wonderful kids rose to the challenge and pulled off a fun and eclectic performance on the last day of term. A big thank you to the school who supported this project and all the parents who stepped in with props, stayed late for pickups and helped the children learn their lines. It was certainly a team effort to pull off a play with just 9 rehearsals.
Next term we see the return of Jane Talbot as Coverack school’s head teacher. Jane was a teacher at the school a few years ago. It’s great to be welcoming her back! Her passion and dedication are second to none, we are really looking forward to working with her again.
That means we need to say thank you and goodbye to Lisa Woodhouse. She has been the head at Coverack for a number of years. She guided us through Covid, academy changes and most recently an Ofsted inspection in the last week of term! She is staying on as the head at St Keverne and Mannacan school so I’m sure we will still see her. Thank you, Lisa, for your dedication and commitment to our school.
CS2000 was set up to raise funds for additional space at Coverack School, and has continued to organise events in the village, promote Coverack businesses and support Coverack’s small village School. It also maintains the Coverack Village Cornwall website, Coverack Village Facebook and Instagram pages and provides a monthly update of What’s On in Coverack and our annual What’s On in Coverack guide.
