Coverack December 2022 Update

Last month’s CS2000 news!

Last month we visited Coverack School twice. Firstly, we ran a fireworks safety and craft event. The children had a great time, had a good understanding of how to stay safe during fireworks night, and created some fantastic artwork!

Secondly, we ran a Remembrance workshop. Karl Long from St Keverne band (former bandmaster for the Marines) took the lead with a youtube clip the band put together during lockdown and some photos of his time serving in London. Norman Elliot played us the last post and talked about serving in the Army. Adam Martin spoke about his role in the armed forces and the comrades he’s lost over the years.  We had two short videos from Beth Lee and Tiaan Clark who are both local to the area and currently serving in the armed forces. After the assembly we had a craft session making a wonderful display with a giant poppy for the front door and a curtain of smaller poppies for the main entrance. The following Sunday we had a great attendance of school children at the parade, the three year 6 wreath bearers did a fantastic job, and all the children were a credit to the school. Lest We Forget!

A BIG thank you goes to all the volunteers who have given up their time so these events can happen.

The next school project is coming together nicely. We are hoping to put a polytunnel on the school field to act as an outdoor classroom and growing space. It’s a very exciting project. Watch this CS2000 SPACE!!

As you walk through the village you will see the Christmas Lights are going up! It’s a huge team effort to get them up and running. Thank you to the Coverack Christmas Tree Committee and their army of volunteers. I personally don’t think you can beat Coverack’s light display!

CS2000 was set up to raise funds for additional space at Coverack School and has continued to organize events in the village, promote Coverack and support our small village school. It also maintains the Coverack Village Cornwall website, and Coverack Village Facebook and Instagram pages and provides a monthly update of What’s On in Coverack.
