St.Peter’s Church Roof repairs news for September:

You will be happy to hear that the work on the church Roof will begin on the 6th of September and take 3 or 4 weeks.   The Church was built in 1885, it has served this community through two World Wars and along with the old Chapel it has served our community through decades of praying families, a powerhouse of prayer. The Church family have raised the bulk of the money from within the church members, over £20,000 but with rising costs for materials and labour we need to make an extra effort to help meet the costs. The Delabole Slates have been slipping due to the copper nails failing. The job entails the removal of all the slates, to replace the battens and felt and then re-attach the Slates with new fastenings. We think this is urgent work, before further breakages this coming winter. In order to get the work done, we do need the help from the village to help this final push, to raise enough to meet the rising costs. Please support your Church in our small community, many have been married here, been Baptised and many families have had the funerals for their loved ones. It is much loved by all our visitors who leave wonderful messages of encouragement in our visitor’s book, and some also make donations as well. Would you consider a donation to help us, however small and help us keep St Peter’s safe for the future? Many thanks in advance. Thank you to those who have contributed so far.     Please contact the Church Wardens at St. Peter’s for further details.
