Coverack Jubilee Celebration Plans

COVERACK VILLAGE Queen’s Jubilee 70th Anniversary 2022

Following a public meeting at the Lambeague to collect ideas, a small committee has been formed to
coordinate a programme of events to celebrate the Jubilee 2nd to 5th June 2022.

A grant application supported by the Lambeague Hall has been submitted to Cornwall Community Foundation and if successful would support activities, and provide a lasting memorial for the village.

Leading up to the event the plan is to organise the following;-
Decoration of houses and boats, organised by the Monday Club.
A jubilee cake/pudding competition, organised by Hilary Nias.
A competition for original 5”x7” artwork, organised by the art club.
A collection of stories from past celebrations, by the writers club.
A queen’s project by the school.
A flower festival in the church, organised by Liz Hanley
A display of photographs in the Fisherman’s Rest, by Sheila Pryor
A Jubilee display in Brenda’s window by Angela Richards.
A memorial Xmas light feature, by the Xmas lights team.
A “Big Villages Clean”, organised by Liz Hanley. Now 10.00 9th May, meet at telephone box with tools.
Planting of the wall, & bus shelter, in red, white and blue, organised by Kim Kearsley.
Flags and bunting through the village, organised by the Whiskey Wednesday team.
Selection of a pageant Queen and King, by the PTFA. Jubilee Carnival by Carnival Committee.
Souvenirs for all the school-age children.
The draft event programme is currently;-

Thursday 2nd June

Closing of all competitions displays open to us all and judging.
School project displayed in St Peter’s Hall.
Sandcastle competition, Mill Beach, by Space 2000.
Planting of memorial trees, by the village elder and school.

Friday 3rd June

B12.00 barbecue and music on the Bay Hotel lawns.
Beach sports on Mill Beach by the table tennis club. Red Barrows display team.
Coverack archive film night in the Lambeague. By Woods

Saturday 4th June

Parade of boats from the harbour.
Pageant and children’s dancing on the Bay Hotel lawns, judging by the Bay guests followed by a parade to the Fisherman’s Rest for prize giving.
Street party on the harbour with take-away food and hopefully music.

Sunday 5th June

Carolaire on the Battery. Organised by Joan Kearsley.
Red Barrows display team
And the following organised by the Lambeague Hall Committee.
Children’s sports on the battery. 
Village “street party” on the battery. All to dress in red, white and blue.
