Coverack April 2021 Update

As Government Guidelines change as we follow the road map out of lockdown…we would like to thank all of those people who are following the guidelines and keeping our little village and its occupants as safe as possible.

Please consider doing a 2 minute beach clean whenever you visit the beach – if everyone did this we would have a lot less litter in the sea. In the current climate please make sure you take particular care: wear gloves, safely dispose of the rubbish and wash your hands after.

The majority of Coverack businesses will be closed until 12th April and some later than that date, please contact individual businesses about their opening dates and times.

Please attend wearing a face mask and keep the 2 Metre rules for social distancing, particularly on entry and departure into and leaving church.   We ask that you use the hand sanitisers on entry and exit.   The seating will be marked out inside the church and someone will be available to guide you on arrival within the church.

We hope to be back shortly with church inside or out, singing our hearts out after this very long period of closure. God Bless and keep safe

Coverack Space 2000 Community Group: This group maintains the Coverack Village Cornwall website and also Coverack Village Facebook and Instagram pages and provides a monthly update of What’s On in Coverack. The aim is to promote Coverack and to keep people in touch with what is going on in Coverack. CS2000 usually run a busy programme of events throughout the year in order to be self-funding and to continue to provide community events in the future. Thank you to those who have made donations through Pay Pal on the Coverack Village website. CS2000 have been lucky enough to received donations from friends near and far. Also thanks to those who have purchased ‘Coverack’ books through the website, all support is much appreciated.

CS2000 update: Having been CS2000 coordinator for 13 years, the time has come to pass on the job. This seems the perfect time to hand over as a lot of things are changing because of the times that we find ourselves in, a new person at this point can evolve and develop the role. It has been a job that I have really enjoyed but not easy to continue when working full time!

I am handing over to Helen Martin, Helen is well placed to continue supporting Coverack School and the wider community of Coverack, she has a lot of enthusiasm and a whole host of new ideas for activities and events that CS2000 can carry out in the future.

The coordinator email will remain the point of contact I will continue to support Helen and this year’s What’s On in Coverack booklet will be a joint collaboration. In these uncertain times we plan to produce just one booklet but continue with the monthly email update and a monthly blog post on the Coverack Village website reaching a wide audience with what is going on in Coverack. Any community or charity dates or information to be included in the Coverack What’s On booklet need to be sent to the coordinator email address as soon as possible but by 19th April at the latest. After that please send community or charity dates to go on the Coverack website and monthly email update.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported CS2000 over the years and hopefully you will continue to do so and the whole village can benefit from CS2000 events and activities in the years to come. Coverack is a very special place, please keep doing what you do to keep it that way! Best wishes, Caroline

Note from St Keverne Parish Council:

We managed to get a reprieve for Porthallow and Porthoustock telephone boxes last year but they, together now with the one in Coverack Cove next to the toilets are under threat again.

Residents may wish to add their weight to this by objecting to the Clerk of the Parish Council Grace Hatton Lsc.mullion@btinternet.com who will respond to Cornwall Council on behalf of the Parish Council.  Cornwall Council will collate all responses and then send to BT. Cornwall Council that has to make the recommendation to BT for keeping it.
