Welcome to Coverack

Community School

Our small rural school is situated above the picturesque village of Coverack. We aim to provide a secure, happy environment where children's imaginations and potential for learning can be stimulated. Staff and Governors are committed to delivering the highest quality of education whilst ensuring each child is given the opportunity to develop as an individual in a community where everyone's welfare is equally valued. We actively promote the arts and have a strong musical tradition.

The school opened in 1876 and has been modernised over the years to make the most of the available space. In 2000, a major community project, Coverack Space 2000, transformed accommodation in the school, providing an additional upstairs classroom, releasing downstairs space for use as a school hall. We are very fortunate to have our own kitchen, which provides excellent midday meals cooked on the premises. We also have a playing field with playground equipment and school garden, all of which are used by the children daily.

Children are currently taught in two classes:

Mohegan Class - Years 3, 4 5 and 6

Primrose Class - Reception, Years 1 and 2

We work very closely with St Keverne School, which is only a couple of miles away and also with Grade-Ruan C of E School, St Martin School and Manaccan School, as part of the KESKOWETHYANS Multi-Academy Trust.

The community is a wonderful support to the school, attending fundraising events and helping out in many ways including running a Gardening Club with the children after school. The children are invited to take part in village events such as Coverack Carnival, singing at the community Christmas lunch and visiting Porthgwara Nursing Home and similarly, the community is invited to join the children for events throughout the year including Harvest Lunch, church services and school plays.
